6,000 Dogs Enjoy the Perks of a Lavish Canine Office at Amazon’s Headquarters.
Taking your kids to work, yes… we are aware of this policy, but did you know there is a take your pet to work day?
Well, June 22nd, marks a fun and adventurous day when dog owners take their dog to work. Recently, Amazon, the e-commerce company opened the office for their take your dog to work day. They were barking the praises of its canine culture.
The headquarters in Seattle, shared their work space with approximately 6000 pooches, that’s a lot of puppy employees! Plus, these pups have one trailblazer to thank for their adventures in online shopping and workplace canine culture. His name was Rufus, he was a Welsh corgi, and he was originally brought to Amazon by a husband and wife duo, then won over the rest of his human coworkers. Rufus became such a beloved mascot, his colleagues took to using his paw to help with some important projects in the office, even using the mouse to the computer.
Amazon has placed several photos of Rufus and the pups displayed over the 8.1 million square foot campus. They also named a building after him!Allowing dogs to come to work is an amazing treat and can lighten anyone’s day. Amazon has now ingrained dogs into the culture of the company.
While many Amazon employees get daily lunches catered in and happy hour Fridays, the pups enjoy the perks of spending their days alongside their owners. Now you will find on the 17th floor of one of the buildings, there’s a dogie deck, with a fake fire hydrant, watering station, and a place for popping. This is a great place where the dogs can run around and run free and yet enjoy the outdoors.
The company is now offering an off leash park for employees and dogs in the community to enjoy, it includes rocks and a nice park like setting, totally in their environment. Both in-office and outside play dates help facilitate camaraderie amongst employees. This trend has opened the doors to allow you to work alongside your dog and keeps the office staff smiling.
