There is no doubt that dogs are sociable animals. Maybe, the most social creatures among all the living things walking the Earth. That’s why our hearts always break when we watch clips of animal rescue teams showing the impact of animal abuse on them.
An example of such an effect was caught on cam by the Howl of a dog. They uploaded a video on Youtube narrating the story of a rescued puppy they named Mina. Mina was found in a public pound and has been saved and put under the care of Howl Of A Dog, an animal rescue organization in Romania.
Mina was severely ill and malnourished when she was found. After her rescue, she was treated for her skin infections and anemia.
In the clip below, we can clearly see how scared Mina was every time she was touched by a human. She was visibly trembling in fear when her fur was caressed by a human. What’s worse, she was just looking away, and maybe the horrors of an abusive human touch came back into her mind.
Clearly, she did not have the energy anymore to fight back. The abuse from the past might be so grave that this was all that she could do.

Her trembling in fear while being petted by humans is a sign that she only knew of our hands as abusive and only meant to hurt her. However, in just one week of being surrounded by the new sets of loving hands, she finally learned to trust us again.
She was not trembling anymore when someone pets her. She loves belly rubs a lot to date!
She is making good progress in the animal shelter. More importantly, she has grown to love the human touch now. No more shivers and trembles. She feels at peace with the good-hearted humans.
Traumas can make a huge impact even on our furry friends. Let’s not be kind to our human peers only. Let’s extend this love and humanity even to the animals. They need it more than the material things in the world.
