Johanna Aguilar notified Hope For Paws about an old senior Pittie in their neighborhood. She told the rescue organization that the dog first appeared in the area about three weeks ago. When she and her boyfriend, Pablo Aguirre, tried to approach, the dog walked away and cowered in a corner.
Johanna wasn’t sure how the pup would react once they come close, so they decided to call for help. Quickly, Hope For Paws sent out JoAnn Wiltz and Katie McKittrick to save the pup. At the scene, Johanna and Pablo waited for the rescuers to arrive.
Once at the site, Katie quickly noticed the dog’s injured leg. She instantly tried to gain her trust and offered her some food. Happily, the dog accepted the treat and even let her rescuer place the leash on her neck.
Katie encouraged the dog to stand up. When the animal did, the rescuer saw the masses on her stomach. The rescuers immediately knew the dog needed urgent help.
Before heading back home, JoAnn and Katie thanked Johanna and Pablo. The dog, named Bluebell, later on, thanked Pablo for his kindness. He fed her and looked after her until the rescuers came.
The vets diagnosed Bluebell with two forms of cancer; mast cell tumors and mammary adenocarcinoma. She also had a painful tooth abscess that needed immediate attention, too. So right after a nice bubble bath, the entire vet team worked and prepped Bluebell for her surgery.
It was fortunate that cancer did not spread. Bluebell received the medical help she needed, and she transformed into a happy, healthy dog almost instantly.
Lionel’s Legacy offered to take care of Bluebell while she waits for her new home. They also agreed to handle her adoption and assured to provide the dog the best home they could possibly find. Bluebell now spends her days with her foster family, and she loves all the attention and care she gets.
